Bunker178 is an events pop-up, offering live music, performance poetry, storytelling, comedy and other events. The Art House Pop-up Pantry offers community cafes and a regular community pantry redistributing surplus food to prevent food waste and address food poverty in Southampton.
We are the mobile and virtual offshoot of The Art House, offering a post-apocalyptic performance popup in Southampton, UK. Bringing small-scale, grassroots and unusual events in local places and online – a safer space for all to enjoy music, poetry and performance.
In March 2024, we left our permanent home at 178 Above Bar St to continue offering grassroots performance and art events in likeminded spaces and online.
Events have a DIY, funky, post-apocalyptic feel, are proactively safer spaces for all and bring you the very best of grassroots, fringe and outsider art and performance.
A Bunker is a place of safety, an informal space where doing it yourself and making do is central. Our experienced crew and sound engineer work with partner spaces to bring unusual and accessible events to the Southampton community, the way we’ve been doing for nearly 20 years. Expect an intimate, welcoming experience unlike your typical arts event.
