Volunteering at The Art House
"... helping the Art House project has had a really great effect on me ... I feel much improved as a person because of this. I wouldn't have made so many wonderful friends had I not become a volunteer at the Art House. I wouldn't have as wide a view of the world had I not done so. I wouldn't have as much confidence in my own artistic and creative abilities if I hadn't volunteered. I don't think I would have had as much faith in the power of people to get together to get something that is worthwhile done if I hadn't spent time volunteering at the Art House."
Feedback from Joe, long term cafe volunteer
The Art House has a small core staff of paid crew, however most of the people who work here are volunteers. Volunteer roles vary from preparing food in the kitchen, to working in the cafe, to doing admin and even building maintenance and window dressing!
You are sure to meet a wide variety of like-minded people, learn more about the things we stand for and make a valuable contribution to our community.
Volunteering at The Art House is a rewarding experience, firstly because you get to be part of something truly wonderful. Being part of a great team, meeting new people and dealing with customers are just some of the skills you’ll have the opportunity to develop.
Benefits
After a set training period, you'll be
given a privilege card which gives you discounts here, at LUSH
Southampton, The Soul Cellar, Dragonfly and more.
Volunteer Application process
Please visit us first! We always advise this, as it is necessary to understand the nature of the organisation you will be working in. We also need potential volunteers to fill in an application form by picking up a paper copy
available in the cafe during opening hours.
