Here's just a few of
the things you could be doing at The Art House
(so please keep a close eye on our calendar of events!):
Make things, fix things, learn something new. Boost your
creativity, start journallling, rediscover letter writing,
sketching and doodling. Start your next craft project, learn
origami, beading or practice your life drawing.
If you like music, come and learn African drumming, song and
dance, Samba drumming and percussion, Didgeridoo or English fiddle
playing. Come along to one of our jam sessions, join in with our
improvisation orchestra or pick up some hard-to-find contemporary
music at our monthly record stall.
Enjoy many live music gigs, with regulars like The Shimmering
Bees, Bat2k and Keya Bobo as well as great solo performances from
amongst the best of our local talent at our regular Three Monkeys
nights. Or perform yourself at one of our many open mic events.
Join our photographers or film-makers groups and meet like-minded
creatives. If you are technically minded, then come along and talk
binary with the 'dorkbots'.
If you enjoy the written word, we have a regular writing groups and
poetry group. If you like to perform or listen to
poetry, we have our very popular 'Moving Voices' poetry café once
a month. You might also like to come and listen to, or tell,
stories with Southampton Story Club.
If you like languages, you can practice British Sign Language (BSL),
German and French at a language café.
We have groups for knitting, sewing and crochet, as well as
clothes modification workshops and clothes swaps.
If you take an interest in environmental issues, we have regular
Green events including an annual Seed Swap, Fairtrade fortnight 'Chocfest',
World Food Fest and Transition Southampton meet-ups and film
showings.
If there's not a workshop here that you would like to do, then why
not volunteer to share your skills? We even offer a course in how
to run a workshop, to get you started. |
